Troubleshooting and privacy

Resolve common input, export and recovery problems, and understand what local processing does and does not mean.

Screenshots show the real app with sample documents. Select an image to inspect the original capture.

A command is disabled or options are invalid

First finish or cancel any active job and close its dialog. Select suitable pages for page-dependent actions. Image layout requires image pages; image export requires PDF pages only. An empty selection cannot be exported.

For ranges, use current output positions starting at 1, for example 1-3, 5. Every-N splitting requires a positive whole number. Filenames must be nonempty and at most 160 characters; only {n} is a supported numbering token. Correct the invalid field instead of repeatedly selecting Continue.

Problems opening or previewing a source

Symptom What to check
Missing or unreadable source Restore access or use Locate replacement for an unchanged copy.
Another program locks the file Close its write session, then retry.
Source contents changed Cancel to retain edits, locate an unchanged copy, or explicitly accept a reload.
Wrong password Enter a valid user or owner password. TruePage cannot recover it.
Image cannot be decoded Save a copy as a standard JPG or PNG; animated images are unsupported.
Image or raster memory error Reduce a copy’s dimensions, or choose a lower image-export DPI.
Preview unavailable Check source access and authentication; follow any unsupported-preview message.

See source recovery before reloading: a changed-content reload resets that source’s edits and clears workspace Undo/Redo.

Export cannot finish

An original source cannot also be the destination. Choose a different output name or folder. Check available disk space and write access. A cloud-synced folder can have additional availability or locking behavior.

If a destination changes after you reviewed it, start a new export and inspect names and collisions again. Do not assume that an earlier Replace decision applies to a later retry.

If the worker cannot start or stops unexpectedly, preserve your source files, retry once and follow the app’s restart or repair guidance if the problem persists. A failed job does not establish that its output is valid. Use the completion result and actual saved files.

Interrupted outputs and cleanup

Canceling an operation is a request; wait for the resulting status. In a batch, outputs already published successfully remain available if later work stops. Check the saved-file count and destination before retrying.

Clear temporary data now retries cleanup of abandoned temporary data and can surface interrupted-export recovery information. Close applications holding destination files before retrying cleanup. A cleanup warning is not permission to delete originals or arbitrary folders.

If the app identifies recovery copies, review their locations before deciding what to keep. Use the app’s reported paths rather than guessing which similarly named file is the valid result.

PDF limitations

TruePage organizes and exports supported documents. It is not a text editor, OCR engine or signature-preserving editor. Rewriting a digitally signed PDF does not preserve its valid signature status.

Some forms, annotations or advanced features may restrict which transformations are supported. If preservation cannot be verified for an operation, export can be blocked. Keep the original and use a suitable specialized workflow rather than assuming a successful preview guarantees a safe rewrite.

What stays local

Document processing runs in TruePage and its local worker processes. No TruePage account or document upload is required. Installing the app, Store updates, opening the website and other Windows services are separate activities.

Windows, backup tools and cloud-synced folders follow their own policies. Saving an output in a synchronized folder may cause that software to upload it. A local-processing statement is not a promise that the entire PC makes no network requests.

Protected-source exports can create unprotected PDFs, images or ZIP files after explicit acknowledgement. Choose destinations and sharing methods appropriate for those results. The workspace itself is not a permanent project archive: export what you need before closing.

For a safe first attempt, return to getting started.
